Windir

I'm guessing some of you already know Windir.

Windir means Warrior in the Norwegian dialect of Sognamål and was created in 1994 by Valfar,
unfortunatly the band stopped in 2004 because Valfar was on his way to his family in the mountains and got caught in a snowstorm.
He never got out and died.

Its very atmospheric and i think it belongs here amongst the folk/viking/pagan section eventhough you hardly hear any of the traditional folk instruments.
He described his music as Sognametal since he wrote all his lyrics in the Sognamål dialect.
The music is a mixture between folk and black metal, quite unique.

His family gave a goodbye concert of which i'll post a video aswell

Here is a second clip, its called 'Svartesmeden og lundamyrstrollet' which means "The blacksmith and the troll of Lyndamyri".
Basically its part of a folkloric story, its the blacksmith VS the troll.

And the final video i'll post is called Journey to the end.
It was quite a controversy of whether he didn't commit suicide, the reason to believe that was found in the lyrics of this song.

That's a very interesting story behind this band...
