Hej there, been a while since i put a band here, so hopefully its one you'll like and don't know yet (kinda think you'll do )
Alestorm! They are a folk / power metal band consisting out of the following members.
Christopher Bowes – lead vocals, keytar Dani Evans – guitar, bass guitar, backing vocals Gareth Murdock – bass guitar, backing vocals Peter Alcorn - drums
They're from Scotland and have the most catchy chorus i ever came across off .
Keelhaul the filthy landlubber, send him down to the depts below. Make the bastard walk the plank with a bottle of rum and a yo-ho-ho
And totally in style, they support musical piracy.
Listen for yourselves, kinda love them!

I'm sorry but the singer looks like a little goblin The band is pretty nice. I used to listen to them when they were really small in like late 2007. But nowadays it's not really my taste anymore.

Thought I'd already make a thread? No? Omygosh shame on me รถ anyway, THEY ARE AMAAAAAAAAAAAZING and sooo my favorite! I don't care if the singer is a goblin, he's cool They were live at Graspop, but the singers solos weren't that good and the guitars were too silent, but who cares! They rule!
EDIT; See? I've already made a thread; See other (Heavy metal pirates -- PIRATE metal)

Thread in the Other section should be deleted. Alestorm are Power/Folk; 'Pirate Metal' does not exist, no matter how badly people seem to want it to.
Don't care much for them, to be honest. They're pretty damn cheesy and just a tad too happyfuntimeupbeat for my tastes. The worst thing is that they seem to want to be taken seriously. I'm sorry, I just can't. x3
They do make some pretty catchy songs, though. I suppose they're good for a laugh every now and then.

Yes, because wikipedia is such a definitive source on music. It's a joke genre based on lyrical themes with no specific sound. Every band that uses piracy as a lyrical concept can easily be categorized into other genres. Running Wild played Heavy/Power, Alestorm play a sort of Epic Power/Folk combination, and Swashbuckle play Thrash with some Death influence. They sound absolutely nothing alike. A genre, by definition, is a label to group bands together who have a similar sound. "Pirate Metal" fails to do so.
Also, I give you: http://www.metal-archives.com/. Sure, they're not 100% correct about everything, but it's about the best source on the net for everything Metal. It's user-edited, so it closely follows the general consensus in the Metal community. Just try searching for Pirate Metal in Music Genre. You'll get no results, which means that the vast majority of metalheads out there refuse to recognize it as a legitimate genre.

Pirate is a lyrical theme, not a genre- just like sorrow, nature, murder and melancholy are lyrical themes.

Yeah, well, there's no real reason to start a huge argument or anything. The only reason I made a big deal about it in the first place is because I'd like to see the subgenre boards organized a bit more correctly than they are right now.
And I thought that's what genre Eluveitie were in anyway. ;]
