Wintersun

Wintersun is the result of Jari Mäenpää who you guys might know from Ensiferum of which he was a part from 1996 to 2004.
The reason he left was because he couldn't combine Ensiferum with his side project Wintersun anymore and made Wintersun his main goal (of which i'm grateful).

So far they have only released one album called "Wintersun", he's busy on his album Time but from thought is this his 3rd or 4th year of making it.
Many setbacks and computers failing led to this i deduced from the official forums so lets hope its gonna get there soon!.

The lyrics are very powerful, he himself describes them as

I have a little bit of a mournful, melancholic, majestic or kinda "spacy" way of writing, when it comes to melodies. Although everything is not melancholic, but rather "heroic" like you said, but I don't know if it's the right word to describe it. It's difficult to find adjectives to describe the feeling of my own music - it's just me. When I wrote songs to ENSIFERUM (few songs like "LAI LAI HEI and "Token Of Time"), I first needed to get into that "folk mood", before the music came out of me. WINTERSUN's music just comes out naturally. I don't mean to write certain things. It just happens, I guess."

And it certainly sounds that way, 2 songs which demonstrate the variaty in style.
First i'll show you Death and the healing, a very slow song but very majestic and a real moodchanger.

The second song i really like is Starchild, its quite faster but still keeps that great spirit in the music.
This is not the hardest song by them, but its the song i like the most!

I love Starchild. For the upholding of the speed, the great control of drums and guitar, great vocals and lovable lyrics.

Yeah sounds nice.
But even though i know starchild I never got really into them.
Because I never really tried i guess

I really LOVE wintersun, their album is soo good.
Starchild and death and the healing are my favorites.

Wintersun is one of my favorites. But i hope their new album comes soon. Its called 'Time' I think.
'Beyond The Dark Sun' is the best song in my eyes (or ears).
